Carpathia is the ship that rescued the few of the Titanics’ passengers. Most of the passengers died due to the freezing waters and they died of hypothermia. From the statics of survivors given, many passengers from first class survived. The instructions given by the captain were to let all Millvina Dean and children into the lifeboats first. However there are some men who survived from the first class. It is also noted that many Americans survived compared to the Britons, perhaps this is because of the politeness of the Britons and instead of scrambling and forcing their way into the lifeboats, and they queued. Most of the passengers in third and second class lost their lives with only 8% of the male passengers in second class surviving. The last survivor of the sinking ship Lillian Asplund who was then only five years old remembered seeing the ship sink. She was the last to be towered into a lifeboat. Lillian passed on in the year 2006 at the age of 99 years.
